Bengtol College is situated in the extreme northern part of Chirang district.  Indo-Bhutan border town Gelephu is 15 km away from Bengtol College. It is one of the reputed colleges in the Bodoland Territorial Area (BTR), Assam. The college, since its inception in 1981 has been engaged in imparting quality education to students coming from rural-agrarian, economically downtrodden backgrounds, superstitious and blind faith and mainly populated by the Bodo community. Students belonging to Santhali, Oraon, Rajbonshi, Nepali, Bengali, Rabha, Bihari, and Garo communities are also found to pursue their academic careers at Bengtol College. The college has 1st Cycle NAAC Accreditation in 2017 and has applied for 2nd Cycle NAAC Accreditation in 2023. It celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 11th and 12th November 2022. The college was affiliated to Gauhati University till 2020 but presently it is affiliated under Bodoland University. From the start of the Academic class in 1997, it has produced many Graduate Students. Besides, the college is offering MA Degree in English and Bodo under Bodoland University. It offers UG and PG degrees through Distance Mode Learning (KKHSOU), and also offers PGDCA for students. As a department, the college has Bodo, English, Education, Economics, History, Political Science, Philosophy and Management (BBA). The subjects like Assamese and Nepali in addition to Bodo and English is offered as MIL papers. Under newly implemented NEP-2020, it has introduced new course/subjects like computer, sociology and Financial Digital Literacy. As a member of the faculty for about 26 years and as a part of administration I have seen academic progress and opportunities the college had achieved so far. There are challenges to which the college has to overcome, but in spite of these challenges the college is striving ahead to achieve its goal of imparting quality education for generations to come.
