Women Cell, Bengtol College, Bengtol

 The Women Cell of Bengtol College was formed on 21st March 2013 with a view to facilitate women’s empowerment and to look after the grievances faced by female students, teachers, and staff of the college. The priority of the cell is also to ensure a safe and conducive atmosphere for women in the college campus so that the female students, teachers and staff can devout in their studies or duties without any hindrances. The cell adopts zero tolerance to issues to sexual harassment and gender discrimination. If any problem pertaining women related matters arises, the cell takes prompt action in consultation with the college authority for meaningful solution.

The Women Cell actively engages itself in conducting various programmes and activities to felicitate all development of women, such as awareness programmes, skill development programme, seminar, discussion, workshop, observation of Women’s Day, training for self defence etc.

Aims and Objectives:

  1. To work for the welfare of women students, faculty and staff of the college.
  2. To enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of women students, faculty and staff in the college.
  3. To promote intellectual and cultural activities for overall personality development of the female students.
  4. To develop critical thinking ability of female students as well as to enhance decision-making ability.
  5. To enable women to make informed choices in areas like education, employment and health.
  6. To enhance women’s participation on an equal footing in all areas.
  7. To resolve issues like pertaining to girls/women’s sexual harassment.
  8. To incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in and around the college.
  9. To make women realize their equal responsible in building a robust society.

 Power and Function:

The Women Cell has the following power and functions:

  1. It is empowered to address the grievances of female students, faculty and staff with due consultation with the college authority.
  2. It is empowered to take appropriate measures for protecting the rights and privileges of female students, faculty and staff of the college in consultation with the authority.
  3. It functions for gender amity in the college campus.
  4. It also functions for safeguarding the rights of female students, faculty and staff and to provide a platform to listen their complaints.
  5. It is empowered to take action against a guilty person in due consultation with college authority.
  6. It functions for facilitating holistic development of female students of the college.
